Unamed sources have told the daily rhubarb that Barack Obama will name South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford to the post of Ambassador to Argentina.
Obama has told his aides in private that, with apologies to Australia, he wanted an Ambassador with experience "down-under", who can disappear for days at a time, knows the "ins and outs" of society there, and who has experience establishing relations with the Argentinians.
Aides expressed concerns over the recently-disclosed affair with Maria Chapur, the scandal the daily rhubarb has named "Chapurquitted", but the POTUS brushed away their concerns, saying the Governor has learned his lesson.
The Lt. Governor brushed reporters aside in the hallway of the Capitol, but he was heard to be quietly singing what sounded like "Don't cry for me, South Carolina..."
Neither Sanford nor their Sons returned our phone calls.
